FAQ
- 1 – What is photovoltaic energy?
It is the energy generated by the transformation of light (photo) into electricity (volt).
- 2 – How are the solar panels installed on the roof?
The panels are either superimposed (about 10 cm above the tiles) or roof integrated (the panels replace the tiles).
- 3 – How to know if a house is made for a solar power plant installation ?
A solar power plant can be installed in most private house roofs.
You must know that:
- The roof exposure must be from eastward to westward, the closer to the east, the better. Northward exposure must be banned.
- The roof inclination must be between 10 and 50°.
- The roof surface must be large enough to receive a solar power plant, that is 21m² minimum.
- There must be no or very little shade over your roof to let the sunshine in. - 4 – How long do solar panels last?
There is no duration limit in time. Your panels will continue to generate electric current but the output will diminish year after year (our panels are guaranteed for 25 years at 80% of the theoretic rated power output).
- 5 – What is a solar inverter?
The solar panels generate direct current electricity like piles while the public electricity grid is a 220volt alternating current. The inverter changes the direct current electricity from the photovoltaic array into alternating current to the grid voltage.
According to the installation size one or several inverters are needed , usually one only for private houses. The inverter has also safety functions to protect technicians working on the grid from electrocution.
- 6 – Can a photovoltaic power plant work by night ?
No. There is no electricity generation because artificial light is not strong enough and it can't replace the sun-light.
- 7 - Can we benefit from the tax-credit when not taxable ?
Yes indeed. You will get a cheque from the treasury with an amount equivalent to the tax-credit you can expect, usually 8000€ for a couple and 200€ extra for child.
- 8 - What is KW crest(Kwc) ?
That is the solar panel measure-unit set by the manufacturer. For a 3KWc installation, the electricity production will be 3,6KW.
- 9 - Why should we sell the solar electricity instead of consuming it ?
EDF sells the kWh about 11cts€ and buys your own production at about 60cts€ set price. Consuming your own energy means "losing" 49cts€ per KWh.
It is therefore more interesting to sell your own production.
- 10 - What is the profitability of solar photovoltaic panels ?
A number of factors are involved: The region you live in (subventions available or not) ,your family-status ( single, married, children or not.. to fix up your tax-credit) , the installation- location (solar radiation, system-implantation...
To get more information, a WEOLIS agent will make a free analysis of your personal project at your home on your request. Usually a 3KWc installation is the economic solution for the owner, it is equivalent to an investment between 12 and 18 percent.
How to find such an investment to-day?
- 11 - Why should we apply to a specialist like WEOLIS to become an electricity producer ?
Purely and simply because WEOLIS, a specialist in the solar energy in France, takes charge of everything fom a free study of your own project to the final installation of your solar generator through the whole management of the administrative matters.
With WEOLIS, earn money doing nothing, time works for you whatever happens... - 12 – Where can I find an WEOLIS photovoltaique agent?
